Overview
The Companion is an ideal audio player for areas where the solar powered feature isn’t necessary but a secure and durable audio player is still needed. The Companion uses a rechargeable battery that should last several years with normal usage. Any standard AAA battery will power the Companion if/when the rechargeable battery needs to be replaced. The Companion can easily be customized for partnering ministries with their audio content, colors and logo.
The Companion is perfect for ministries working in creative access locations, with military, young people or where there is access to electricity to charge. The Companion can be charged with any standard Android cell phone charger.

The Companion comes equipped with Battery Options 1 (listed above). The other options are not provided by MegaVoice.
CHARGING
With proper care, the player’s Lithium-Ion battery should perform well for several years. When shipped, the battery is only partially charged. You can easily charge the player using one of the methods below:
External Power Supply
For fastest charge, connect any standard “USB” charger (regulated +5VDC, minimum 300mA) to the micro-USB port on the player for about 2 hours (or until the LED stops blinking). While charging, the LED will blink.
Computer
Plug the player into any standard computer USB port using a “USB to micro-USB” cable for about 4 hours or until the LED stops blinking. Any MegaVoice SLS, regular or charge-only cable is sufficient.
Disposable AAA
Simply remove the back of the audio player and replace the battery with a new disposable AAA battery. This is a quick and easy solution to continue using the audio player with minimal interruption.

The variable speed playback feature is appreciated by blind and visually impaired people who prefer listening at a faster than normal speed. Selecting a slower speed is helpful for those learning a new language or listening to content not in their language.
With 4GB of internal memory and a microSD card reader (up to 128GB cards have been tested and work), the Companion has virtually unlimited memory capacity. Similar to the MegaVoice players you’ve come to love and trust, the Companion is secure and has a variation of the intuitive, navigational keypad. Pioneered by MegaVoice in the 1990s, our keypads have evolved to best fit the needs of our users – children, elderly, blind and visually impaired people can confidently navigate hundreds of hours of audio Scripture with ease.
Unlike our solar powered audio players, the Companion is smaller and utilizes a AAA sized rechargeable Li-Ion battery for power (allowing for any standard disposable or rechargeable AAA battery to be used instead). The solar powered feature and internal speaker were omitted from this player to save space and achieve the smaller form factor. Despite the exclusion of the internal speaker, private or group listening is done through the 3.5mm audio port – which provides the perfect source for plugging in earbuds, headphones, an external speaker or even a Bluetooth transmitter.
The Companion can be easily customized for partnering ministries allowing them to select their own color and adding personalized logos to the keypad.

Note that using a number of high-fidelity audio files, like those associated with music, will reduce the player’s total playback hours.
Audio content on the Companion is tamperproof – meaning it cannot be modified or erased without using one of MegaVoice’s proprietary SLS cables. Loading new audio, or changing previous content, is executed via the USB port utilizing our free software, and the proprietary SLS cable which is available as an accessory purchase from MegaVoice. Partners can load one player at a time or use a USB hub to connect with multiple players simultaneously.

Used in challenging environments all over the world, MegaVoice audio players are renowned for in-field durability. The same robust, hard-shell technology deployed in our players for decades remains standard in this audio player. Enhanced water resistance is a new addition, allowing safe use in wetter areas. Each Companion comes with a handy, detachable belt clip which allows you to secure the player for listening in active situations. Without the belt clip, the player measures only 3.75″ x 1.25″ x 0.8125″. With the belt clip and Li-Ion battery, the Companion weighs only 1.023 ounces.
