MegaVoice for the Blind

MegaVoice audio players are obviously a simple and wonderful tool for the visually impaired or blind, but are you aware how much of an improvement they can be over older methods?

Randy Weisser works with the blind in the Philippines. After receiving MegaVoice Bibles in the local language, he said the following: "These digital Bibles are the most important thing that has happened in all of history as far as giving blind people access to the Scriptures. Braille was the most important development up to now, but one blind person cannot even carry a Braille Bible because of its bulk. The cassette Bible is another important development, but we have visited blind people out in the provinces where we work who have had beautiful cassette Bibles on their shelves for years, hoping for the day when they might have a cassette player. The tapes don't last long especially out in those areas because of the high humidity. The other drawback is that to find a particular verse, the blind must select from 20 to 30 tapes and fast forward until finding the verse. With the Ambassador, the desired verse is only a couple seconds away. Because most of the blind people we work with are among the poorest of the poor, using a solar panel to recharge the batteries means this player will be used long after a cassette player is put on the shelf, waiting until they can afford new batteries.

That's why we consider this (MegaVoice) digital player the most important development for the evangelization and discipleship of the blind people we are trying to reach. It is truly the most important tool we have among our resources.“
